Is there SAG support?

SAGs are staffed and supported by volunteers. SAGs will support until 4 p.m. or until all cyclists have made it to camp, if earlier. If you will need support later, you must make your own arrangements. The guideline is, SAGs will pick up ONLY the injured/ill or riders with mechanical problems before 1pm. After 1pm, SAGs will bring in those too tired to complete the tour, to the extent they can, given the number of vehicles available. At all times, however, the injured or ill and those with mechanical problems have priority. Also note that SAGs will stay on the route until their vehicle is full or all riders have passed, i.e. you will NOT be taken immediately to camp unless you need medical attention.

Personal SAGs are prohibited and any SAGs not registered will be asked to leave the route. Any SAGs not willing to assist ANY bicyclist in need will be asked to leave the route.

Bicyclists should indicate their need for help by tapping on their helmet or giving a thumbs down signal to passing SAGs.

Riders should not expect a SAG to transport them every day. You should not attempt FreeWheel unless you have trained appropriately and your intent is to ride every mile, every day, from start to finish. Individuals who SAG in repeatedly may be asked to make other transportation arrangements or leave the tour.
