Is medical care available?

The safety and health of cyclists is a primary consideration in planning FreeWheel. Communities we pass through and each night's host community are encouraged to alert their local emergency responders and provide a first aid station at each campsite.

If an injury occurs on the ride, contact local emergency personnel directly by calling 911, or flag down a SAG, highway patrolman, or other car and have them call for you or take you to a medical provider if injuries warrant and the driver is agreeable. Riders must rely on their own personal health, medical, and liability insurance and should carry appropriate identification and medical insurance verification on them at all times, as well as information regarding special treatment instructions related to medical conditions, medications, alergies, etc.
